Dental Implants
Implants are a versatile solution replacing a single tooth, multiple teeth or a whole arch.
Dental implants are made of titanium and are fused with the jawbone to replace missing teeth. Once successfully integrated, titanium implants can be covered by a crown, bridge or dentures that look, feel and function just like real teeth.
However many teeth you need to replace, our Karratha dentists are highly experienced in fitting both full and partial implants.
What are the benefits of dental implants?
Tooth implants are a versatile solution whether you need to replace a single tooth, multiple teeth or a whole arch.
Titanium dental implants offer a permanent alternative to removable dentures and plates. Because they are fused with your jawbone, they offer all the strength of natural teeth.
What are the different types of dental implants?
Depending on how many teeth you want to replace, you may be better suited to a single implant, multiple implants or full arch implants
Single dental implants replace an individual tooth that may be missing or has been extracted. These are usually covered by a custom dental crown.
Multiple dental implants replace two or more teeth. If the teeth are adjacent, dental bridges may be used in combination with crowns.
What to expect
Before surgery, your dentist will explain what the procedure involves to help you decide whether implant dentistry is right for you. Dental implant surgery is carried out under local anaesthesia and IV sedation.
During surgery, your dentist makes an incision in the gum and drills a hole for the implant in the jaw. The titanium implant is then fitted in place and the gum is closed with stitches.
It takes between three and six months for the dental implant to fuse with the jaw, after which time a dental crown, bridge or dentures can be fitted.
